The Theatre Program at Coker College will present their mainstage of Idris Goodwin's How We Got On from February 26 - March 2 at the Watson Theatre in the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center. Performances are at 7:30pm.
How We Got On is a coming-of-age story of three young adults situated within the unique moment in history that birthed the cultural phenomenon hip-hop and its movement into suburban America consciousness. The importance of finding your unique voice and path, and the crucial role friendship/community plays in that quest are at the fore. Dreams of transgressing the norms of suburban life and expression, breaking out, and "getting on" are maps of affirmation in the face of the uncertainty, doubt, and isolation that often plague young people.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students/seniors, and free for Coker students and faculty.
